Dear Diary, I wish I wasn’t so picky about the Zazzle URLs for the shops I already made there.
Not thinking about it in advance led me to redo two shops from scratch (no, Zazzle won’t help with changing the URL of a shop). I’m not sure I made the perfect choice, but this is something that has bugged me for a while, and I wanted to get it in order, if only for my own peace of mind. The change was to get “folkesdotter” in the shops’ URLs; if I’m going to build a recognisable name/brand, I think it’s the right move.
Happy to say that one of the shops is now all done! All products have been moved over to the shop with the new, “correct” URL. At the same time, this gave me an opportunity to go through the products and check that everything looks okay, ensuring text and/or photos are customisable, etc. I know I need to get better at product descriptions and keywords, but the most important thing right now is getting the products to be seen and indexed on the Zazzle marketplace again. Now I will also add more to Pinterest, I really need to organise some boards and fill up with some more pins.
One shop done, one on the way and now I am contemplating what to do with the Black & White shop… Do I keep it as a shop of its own (and redo that one as well to get a correct URL) or do I incorporate it into the “main” Folkesdotter design shop? I need to think about that one for a while, the Black & White shop has more products in it than the other two I have been working on so far. Time will tell I guess….
